The eye of the Tiger! Dun! Dun Dun Dun! Dun Dun Dun! Dun Dun Dun!
Howdy ya’ll.
And welcome to another Movie Mondays.
JB sadly couldn’t make it this morning.
So he asked me, his old pal Doc Holliday to fill in for him.
Today on the show, we will be looking at a classic film, about a classic man, telling a classic tale about an incident that happened not so very long ago.
Actually, it happened in the late 1800s, but still, the movie I am going to tell you about is a tale as old as time, it all happened in a little place I like to call, Tombstone.
Released back in 1993, Tombstone is loosely based on real events that took place in the 1880s, including the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral and the Earp Vendetta Ride.
It stars Kurt Russell as Wyatt Earp and the late actor Val Kilmer as his sidekick, yours truly.
Ah, I remember the first time I saw that movie in the theaters.
Val Kilmer couldn’t have done any better.
So what’s the story?
The movie stars Wyatt Earp and his brothers Virgil and Morgan, played by Sam Elliot and Bill Paxton who have just retired as lawmen and decided to settle down in Tombstone.
But unfortunate for them, Tombstone just happens to be the town where a gang known as the Cowboys reside.
And throughout the film it’s them battling the Cowboys in gunfights and more.
While doing research on this particular film I found some interesting topics.
I knew that Wyatt and I myself were real people heck he was one of my closet friends, but did you know that Henry Hooker was the first man in the Arizona Territory to have the first and largest ranch.
Ho, Ho, Ho better get that J Money boy over there cause he’s family is really big into this type of thing.
So how good is this film really?
Well, I don’t mean to toot my own horn or anything but “I’m your huckleberry.”
This film is like no other.
Even people who aren’t into westerns find this film pretty amazing.
And most of it comes from Val Kilmer’s role as the one and only.
He really does play up the personality really well.
Probably my favorite scene is when Johnny Ringo, played by Billy Bob Thornton, try’s to out do me in a gun twirling competition and I ultimately beat him with only a cup full of Sarsaparilla.
Silly little Ringo, surely you know no one can outdo Doc Holliday.
So, yeah, this film really is the best.
It’s got good characters, great gunfights, and all around great story telling.
Anyway, that’s all I have to say about today folks.
